We have been on our own journey of self-discovery and self-healing since we moved from the Czech Republic to the UK fourteen years ago. Precious ancient wisdom, teachings and practices from the greatest teachers, trainers and tutors have helped us evolve on many levels and qualify as professional practitioners in holistic massage, sound and yoga therapies. Life is a gift and health is wealth. Discovering the healing power of nature, ayurvedic treatments and yogic practices have been an incredible life changing and healing experience for us. 🙏 Setting An Intention Before A Yoga Practice 🙏
 
Sit quietly and peacefully and bring your hands to your heart centre 
In your mind repeat three times:

With a great respect and love I honour my heart.

We set the above intention in our yoga class this week to purify, nourish and heal our hearts. 

According to Ayurveda, the heart (Hrydayam) is a maternal organ that pumps and circulates blood and life force (Prana) to the body. It is also the centre of love and other emotions such as compassion, joy, sadness, and grief. 

Suppressed emotions and stress may have a negative impact on the heart health. Smoking, alcohol a wrong diet and sedentary lifestyle may also increase heart health risks and damage the cardiovascular system.

The Ayurvedic approach to heart health focuses on the importance of the heart strength and tone as well as emotional and mental balance.

Ayurveda offers Yoga and breathing practices (Pranayama) to strengthen the heart and support health circulation.  Ayurveda also recommends subtle approaches to improve the heart health physically and emotionally.

I will present an online talk on How To Manage Peri-/Menopause Naturally for the Microsoft DNI Women's Group next week.

Menopause, 'Second Spring' as referred to in Eastern cultures, has a significant impact on the lives of many women and according to a new study in 2023, over 900 women business owners said that their biggest challenges are managing their health and wellbeing, childcare or family responsibilities, funding or access to funds. 

Nearly half of women business owners (45%) believe the government should provide better support for women going through perimenopause and menopause. 

As an employer, you can help improve working conditions for your employees by following the British Standards Institution (BSI)'s examples of good practices surrounding policies, culture, and physical work. These can be found in the BSI's new guidance to help employers navigate menopause and menstruation in the workplace.

BS 30416: Menstrual and menopausal health matters in your workplace is a free, practical toolkit for businesses of all sizes and sectors. It contains examples of actions and adjustments that can be taken to improve employees' wellbeing:

✅ Physical aspect of work
✅ Policy guidance and practices
✅ Supportive workplace cultures
✅ Work design
✅ Inclusivity
✅ Evaluation and metrics

There are also practical annexes with checklists and tools to use such as:
